About

I became a student of portrait drawing and painting after a career as an engineer.

Following retirement in 2006, I became a trustee of the local Citizens Advice bureau and chaired the board of a new community development project. I also joined a portrait drawing class. Eventually my interest in portrait art led me to tuition at the fine art atelier Sarum Studio from 2014.

Today I continue to study, and to share in the trials and joys of people of all ages, from beginners to experienced artists at this magnificent atelier in the Cathedral Close Salisbury run by Nicholas Beer and Alastair Barton. Workshops and one-to-one coaching with other artists have also been very influential.

I recently ventured into still life and landscape at Sarum Studio and with other tutors. The skills and techniques of portrait give a familiar and pleasing start.

I welcome enquiries for commissions. Portrait commissions can be undertaken by sittings or a combination of sitting and photographs. The first step is to contact me for to discuss what you want.
